ABOUT ME

MARY McCORMICK, MSS, LCSW

I am a licensed therapist in private practice in Bala Cynwyd for 30 years. Educated in clinical social work at Bryn Mawr Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research, I was instilled with the core values of my professional training – integrity, competence, social justice, and respect for the dignity and worth of each person.

We live in a complex and constantly changing world. Being knowledgeable about its impact on mental health is essential for competent practice. I stay informed about current research, therapies, and practices across many relevant fields. Being curious keeps me grounded, humble and open. I consult regularly with a close small network of trusted colleagues across disciplines to ensure a holistic and comprehensive perspective in my work as a therapist.

My relational approach is rooted in systems work. No person is an island – even the most introverted. Nature hard wires us towards other human beings. Difficulties in establishing and sustaining meaningful relationships are often at the root of anxiety and depression.
